Contract: Full-time employment
About MOWAA:
The Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) is an independent non-profit institution dedicated to the preservation of heritage, expansion of knowledge and celebration of West African arts and culture. Role Overview:
MOWAA is looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to lead digital marketing activity across our growing online shop and membership programme. The role will focus on building awareness, growing qualified traffic, increasing online sales and membership acquisition, and developing stronger long-term relationships with MOWAA’s audiences.

The role requires a strong understanding of digital performance and conversion, balanced with MOWAA’s approach to audience engagement: thoughtful, creative and storytelling-led rather than overly sales-driven.

- Translate MOWAA’s shop and membership objectives into clear campaign plans, audience journeys and channel activity.

- Develop customer journeys that move audiences from awareness and discovery through to purchase, membership sign-up and continued engagement.
- Develop appropriate approaches for MOWAA’s key audience groups, including existing supporters, art and culture audiences, local visitors/supporters, and diaspora/international audiences.
- Identify opportunities to improve how audiences discover, understand and engage with MOWAA across its digital channels.
E-commerce & Membership Growth
- Develop and deliver digital campaigns that drive qualified traffic, conversion and sales through the MOWAA online shop.
- Support product discovery, consideration and purchase across MOWAA’s merchandise, publications and other shop products.
- Develop campaigns that build awareness and understanding of MOWAA’s membership offer and encourage membership sign-ups.
- Develop audience-specific membership messaging and digital journeys.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen repeat purchasing, re-engagement and continued audience interaction.
- Support sustained post-launch growth across membership acquisition, email sign-ups and repeat purchases
Campaign Delivery, CRM & Audience Engagement
- Plan, run and refine paid and lifecycle campaigns across social, email and CRM.
- Develop audience segmentation, targeting and retargeting approaches based on audience behavior, geography, interests and stage of the customer journey.
- Use CRM and email marketing to support shop growth, membership acquisition and continued audience engagement.
- Develop appropriate welcome, nurture, purchase follow-up and re-engagement journeys.
- Monitor campaign performance while activity is live and make practical adjustments to improve results.
- Work effectively across MOWAA’s existing digital platforms, including Shopify, WordPress and Brevo.
- Ensure digital activity remains audience-centered, storytelling-led and non-intrusive, balancing commercial objectives with MOWAA’s cultural positioning and long-term audience relationships.
Analytics, Optimization & Reporting
- Monitor performance across MOWAA’s digital campaigns, online shop, membership pages, CRM and email activity.
- Track traffic, sales, membership acquisition, conversion and audience engagement.
- Monitor customer journeys and identify where audiences are progressing, disengaging or dropping off.
- Test and refine audiences, messaging, channels and customer journeys to improve performance.
- Provide clear reporting on campaign performance together with practical and actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Use performance data to support a continuous test-and-learn approach across MOWAA’s digital marketing activity.
Key Performance Areas
Success in the role will include:
- Launch engagement: stronger awareness and understanding of MOWAA’s shop and membership offers.
- Qualified traffic growth: increased relevant traffic to shop and membership pages.
- Conversion performance: improved conversion across online purchases and membership sign-ups.

- CMS platforms such as WordPress.
- CRM/email platforms such as Brevo or similar.
- Social advertising platforms.
- Digital analytics and performance-reporting tools.
