The Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) is proud to partner with the French Embassy in Nigeria in a growing cultural alliance focused on advancing heritage preservation, professional training, and cross-cultural dialogue.
With the generous support and leadership of the French Embassy, this partnership is delivering impact across different areas, including archival training, digital tools, and cultural programming.
ARCHIVAL TRAINING: CROSS-CONTINENTAL LEARNING
- In proud partnership with the French Foreign Ministry of Culture, this robust two phased program begins with a special training in France, exposing Nigerian professionals to world-class archival practices. Delegates will be hosted by prestigious institutions including Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art (INHA), Musée du Quai Branly, Centre Pompidou and others.
- Followed by a practical consolidation phase in Benin City, where participants apply their knowledge and contribute to their respsective archival and museum development goals.
- This training brings together a diverse delegation of Nigerian cultural institutions such as the Centre for Black African Arts & Civilization (CBAAC), National Commission for Museums and Monument (NCMM), Yaba Art Museum (YAM) and Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos (CCA Lagos), fostering cross-institutional exchange and capacity building.
CULTURAL CITY GUIDE APP: LAGOS & BENIN CITY AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
- Development of a user-friendly mobile app showcasing the rich heritage, landmarks, and creative hotspots of Lagos and Benin City.
- Bridging tech and culture to enhance accessibility and public engagement with Nigeria’s vibrant cultural scene.
SUPPORT FOR MOWAA’S PROGRAMMING
- Strategic backing for the launch of MOWAA’s world-class cultural campus, including public programming and international engagements.
- Support for bringing young artists and curators from Nigeria and abroad for immersive tours, workshops, and exchange activities at MOWAA’s Campus.
